SHORT PAPERS AND POSTERS |
Important dates
|
CLIHC 2003 is interested in promoting a wide variety of opportunities for fruitful exchange among the Latin American HCI community.
Researchers are invited to submit late-breaking results
achieved shortly before the conference in the form of short papers
or posters. This will allow them to get valuable feedback from CLIHC
2003 attendees and to establish international contacts for informal
or formal collaboration.
Call for Participation
Short Papers and Technical Posters are two categories of submission.
The goal for both categories is to provide a short, concise report
of work that is important and likely to influence the Latin American
community in IHC. In line with the conference theme of Building
bridges among individuals and communities these categories aim at
attracting attention from a broad range of disciplines and a wide
variety of topics and methodologies.
Short Papers are four-page contributions that discuss preliminary findings of ongoing research. The Short Papers category provides opportunities to present promising work in progress that is still in a state to be influenced through discussion. A 10 minutes presentation will be scheduled in the conference program.
Technical Posters are to appear in the proceedings
as one-page abstracts that describe ongoing research projects/systems
or other technical information of potential interest to CLIHC attendees.
There will be a scheduled spotlight on posters within the conference
breaks for discussion between the authors and attendees around the
posters.
Reviewing Criteria
The same reviewing standards and process for Papers apply to Short
Papers and Posters. Each submission will be reviewed on the basis
of the validity and clarity of the results, the originality of the
work, the quality of the written presentation and its contribution
to the field of HCI in a wide perspective.
Preparing Submissions:
Format and Requirements
A short paper may have up to 4 pages and a technical poster may
have one page contribution. Submissions should include:
Full literature searches are not expected, although relevant citations should be included. Summaries of wider findings or reduced versions of longer papers are not suitable for the Short Papers and Technical Posters submission categories. Submissions should present original and unpublished work.
The short papers and posters will also be judged by their legibility, their expected interest to the conference participants, their potential to foster technical cooperation and information exchange, and their conformity with the conference style standards.
All submissions should be written in one of the official
conference languages: Portuguese, Spanish, or English, and must
be formatted according to the conference guidelines and templates.
Conformity with the format is required since it is not expected
substantial changes between the submitted text and the final version
of accepted contributions.
How to Submit
Submissions must be uploaded electronically as PDF or Postscript
files through the conference Web site.
Publication
At least one author of each accepted short paper or poster must
register for the Conference to have the contribution published in
CLICH2003 Proceedings.
